Family Crisis Services, Inc. has worked diligently over the years to continually improve service delivery and meet the growing needs of our diverse population. We have incorporated our philosophy into the agency education and services to educate and create awareness of how Family Crisis Services, Inc. conducts services. It is as follows: We believe it is everyone’s inherent right to be treated with dignity and respect and to live a life free from abuse. No one deserves to be sexually, physically or emotionally abused; and no one has the right to abuse another. We understand that domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence are a threat to these individual rights. These types of violence are the responsibility of the abusers and a product of sexism, racism, heterosexism, classism, and inherent-based power imbalances condoned and perpetrated in our society and throughout the world. We recognize and accept our responsibilities to ourselves, our families, our co-workers and our communities to seek and end to the brutal crimes of sexual assault and domestic violence. We refuse to believe the myths surrounding these violent crimes and we hold the perpetrators responsible for their actions. It is our responsibility to inform legislators that these offenses will no longer be tolerated, educate the community about sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking issues, and offer proper resources to empower the survivors of these abuses. It is because of these beliefs and understanding that we provide services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence guided by the following principles: Services are provided by trained employees and volunteers to all survivors. Services are free and confidential and survivors will be treated with dignity, compassion and respect. We understand that survivors come from different backgrounds and have a variety of needs that are important to them. Therefore, services are voluntary, informed by the survivors and central to their safety and needs. Employees and volunteers respect the cultural differences, beliefs, traditions and customs of the survivors and services are delivered in a manner that is appropriate to their individual needs. Interpreters are utilized to assist in meeting the needs of the survivors during the process. All services are available to survivors regardless of ethnicity, education level, economic status, sexual orientation, immigration status, spiritual beliefs, geographic location, physical or mental ability or criminal status. Family Crisis Services, Inc. has come a long way over the years and continues to improve services and create new opportunities for survivors to obtain healthy and healing lifestyle changes.
